Is it the same buying an aftermarket chrome bumper instead of buying an original chrome bumper? Many people think it is the same without stopping to analyze some aspects that I will explain below so you can decide for yourself.
From my personal point of view, I hate to tell you that it is not the same thing. I am going to emphasize some aspects so you can consider them when making a decision.
My first observation would be that in aftermarket chrome bumpers, which are also called replacement bumpers, you will find that the metal used is extremely thin and once placed onto your pickup truck it won’t have the same OEM dimensions. What does this mean? When installing it, you’ll notice gaps in between the bumper and grille, bumper and fender, or the bumper and upper moldings. Gaps that you didn’t have before or will have if you install an authentic bumper made by the manufacturer. Want more? Don’t count on the durability of the chrome itself to be the same. Driving down the street, you’ll notice 10-15 year old pickup trucks with shiny chrome bumpers. Don’t expect the same with aftermarket chrome bumpers as their quality deteriorates faster than an original bumper would. I suppose that if you are looking at aftermarket parts, your main focus is to save money. Most replacement parts are actually quite expensive and the money you save at first will cost you more in the long run.
If you’ve made your decision to install a used OEM bumper then Nobody Collision parts is your best option because we have the cheapest prices in the market. Just remember, Nobody sells cheaper than us!
